Christmas Decorating With a New Puppy

I love decorating for Christmas. I have been collecting ornaments since the early 1970s. This year we have a new puppy that is a little too curious for her own good. So this year I am not putting up a full Christmas tree and exposing my ornament collection to the whims of a very nosy pup.

This year we are decorating in miniature and high off of the ground.

I placed my silver tree with all of my small Shiny Brite ornaments on top of my display cabinet.

In the cabinet I placed my other vintage Christmas items as well as some dolls and silver. Everything is thrifted except for the Midge doll.

I had to find a way to display my larger Shiny Brite ornaments so they are nestled in a tiered basket along with my large vintage bottlebrush wreath.

My final bit of decorating is my stack of vintage doll suitcases. I tied them up with large red ribbon to look like presents.

So far the puppy hasn't been able to reach anything. The house isn't quite as festive but at least everyone and everything is safe.

Festive Pinwheels

Today I created | A Series of Pinwheels

I just wanted to create something basic and simple today. This was a good way to use some of my Basic Grey stash and try something new.

I cut the paper into 5" squares and cut a 2" diagonal line from the corners towards the center point. I punched a small hole in the center and on one tip of each corner. I then used a small brad to hold it all together and placed a button on top of the brad to finish off the look.

These pinwheels are just decorations since they don't actually spin. They would make very nice party decorations.

Butterfly Collection

Today I created | A butterfly collection.

No butterflies were harmed in the making of this art. I like making cards out of these paper-punched butterflies. It is a great project to use scraps of paper with tiny prints.

My favorite part is making sure that the pattern of the paper appears symmetrical on the butterfly wings. I mount the butterflies using double-stick foam dots to make them float on the background.

I used paper in a color combination of teal and pink. Not a combination that I would normally use together.

Tree Banner

Today I created | A Banner made from upside-down, die cut trees.

I cut these Christmas tree shapes using the eclips but noticed that they had such a nice form when seen upside down. I immediately thought of pennant banners. The only thing I had to revise was to trim down the star at the top of the tree.

Fast Flowers

Today I created | A mass of diecut paper flowers.

It is my co-worker's birthday next week. I wanted to create something to decorate her desk. She likes the color combination of teal and orange.

I cut a bunch of flowers in different shapes and sizes using the eclips and then stacked them in three layers. Since these didn't need to be archival, I stapled the layers together.
