Living With Less in 2015!

2015 started off with great intentions. My 2015 goal is to Live With Less beginning right now.

Well, that was my intention on December 31st around 8 p.m. I started cleaning one part of my Studio. I was quite happy with the results.

This was photographed around 11:30 p.m. on New Year's Eve. As an introvert, I am much more comfortable being home than being around a crowd of people.

On New Year's Day I started decluttering the work area in my Studio. This is no small task for a life-long crafter. It was filled with happy discoveries for future projects but I was able to discard many supplies I no longer want. Here is my work desk. I've been scrapbooking for 26 years but I'm only now trying pocket page scrapbooking. I organized my pre-cut cards in vintage glass refrigerator dishes on my work table just to remind me what I have to work with. My L-shaped work surface has about 150 Tilt Bins on the surrounding walls. Great to hold small supplies but they also tend to get filled and forgotten. These will have to be another day's project.
Later that day I intended to declutter some shelves in my living room but Dear Handyman {who is the world's best organizer} got involved and the entire living room/dining room got a make over. Lots of stuff got sent off to Goodwill but this allowed my favorite stuff to be placed on display.
As I said at the beginning of this post, the year started off with the best of intentions...
And then I got sick. My only symptom was an on-again, off-again fever for three days. Today is the first day that I have felt well enough to sit up.

But back to my goals for 2015. I've been reading a lot about Tiny Houses and I love looking at photos of how people organize their lives into tiny homes. Then I realized that my home could be considered a tiny house if you go by the square footage. I wanted my house to look as nice as those tiny houses but I realized that I have too much Stuff. That's when I decided that I needed to Live With Less. This then led me to a site called Discardia.com. I still have a long way to go but I have an entire year to get there.

My goal is to learn to Live With Less by letting go of as much as possible. If I don't love it or find it useful {which includes using it as an art project} then it will be discarded {donated, sold or trashed}. I have not yet come to terms with how this will affect my love of thrifting but until I get my life decluttered I will keep lightening my life.

2015 is going to be an awesome year!
