Triple Play Blog Hop - Week 5

Welcome to Week 5 of the Sizzix, Triple Play Blog Hop. The past few weeks have gone by so quickly. The best part is that I've discovered so many talented and creative people who are participating in this blog hop.

Today's featured die is the Gift Card Holder w/Phrase, "For You" in 3D by Karen Burniston. This was a fun die with so many possibilities. I've been working on some DisneyWorld vacation scrapbook pages so I decided to use the Gift Card Holder die on a scrapbook page.

I kept the page simple so that nothing would distract the viewer from the main pop-up feature. I used the Frame, Circle Scallop die to cut the round shape and added the title sticker by Creative Imaginations and the red circle by Reminisce.

Once the card is opened there is a photo of Sleeping Beauty's Castle in the background with another photo in the foreground that creates a 3D, special effect kind of thing.

I first cut the Gift Card Holder using clear plastic (from a die package). After the die was assembled and attached to the card I adhered the castle image behind the panel that says "For You". Next, I adhered the foreground photo to the extra die piece and trimmed around the top of the figures in the photo while leaving the bottom intact to slide into the card holder slots.

Next I placed fireworks stickers (also by Creative Imaginations) onto pieces of clear plastic and adhered these in front of the castle photo. I added spots of Stickles; Star Dust, Green and Xmas Red to the fireworks to add some sparkle.

Once again, I would like to thank Karen for designing such a fun die with so many possibilities. I had fun playing with this die.

  2. YOU! You've given me a V8 moment!!! I tried to cut my GCH out of a transparency last night and couldn't get the proper weight to hold up my gift card and the prancing reindeer. I went to bed in the wee hours feeling like a failure and probably tripping over die packaging in the process! I keep them, but I didn't think to use them for this die. You've saved my sanity, my friend! Now, about this awesome layout - you rock! I love that the fireworks are visible on the sides of the card when flat, then fly in the sky when opened. You have done me a huge solid in illustrating this die on a layout as a photo holder. Because you rock like that. You do! I am so happy you're in this hop and I always look forward to your posts.
